Project case study

DECEPTECHO

A first-person prototype shaped through programming, QA and game design.

A first-person downloadable prototype combining programming, QA and game-design work across a final public Windows build.

The project

DECEPTECHO is a first-person Windows prototype publicly credited to Charlie Bird and me, under my previous surname Evans. The current itch.io release is described as the final version of the game prototype.

The build uses familiar first-person controls for movement, crouching, jumping and sprinting, with a dedicated pause menu.

Play format

The public release is a desktop build, so I’ve kept the experience straightforward: look through the case study here, then continue to itch.io when you’re ready to download and run the original prototype.

Portfolio focus

This project brought programming, QA and game-design responsibilities together in one build. For me, that makes it a useful example of working across technical implementation and player experience rather than treating them as separate disciplines.
